There had been snow on the tops over night and the weather forecast was not good, so it did not take us long to decide to make our way home rather than go for another walk.
The warden said that snow had fallen on the A59, so Geoff decided to go for the M6, whilst Andy decided to stick with the A59 and hope it was OK.
Our route down the M6 with Geoff was OK initially, but it eventually ground to a halt and the satnav was advising us to divert. We decided to follow the statnav which then proceeded to take us on a tour of Stockport and surrounding areas before finally getting us on to the A628 Longdendale Valley road. This road had snow on it but seemed to be one of the few over the Pennines which was still open.
Meanwhile, Andy had managed to get over the A59 and was nearly home by the time we stopped for our second coffee stop. The journey took us about 9 hours and goes down as our worst journey ever to or from the Lakes at Easter.
