2018 REPORTS

Scoat Fell

Saturday 31st March 2018

Our planned route today was to park further along Wast Water and then take the path up to Scoat Fell, over Red Pike and back down along Over Beck. We split into two groups, as Geoff, Mark and Simon thought they might want to do a bit more, once they got up there.

So with the A team forging their way ahead, the B team (Alan, Roger, Andy, Judith and Yvette) set off for a steady climb uphill against the wind.

As we neared the top of Scoat Fell, Alan decided he wanted to turn back as he was tired and the weather conditions did not look good on the top. After a quick discussion, we decided we would walk around the contour so that we could have lunch at Scoat Tarn. When we got there, the wind was blowing a gale and it was not very warm, but fortunately we found a spot sheltered from the wind and so were able to have a leisurely lunch.

After lunch we made our way down and when we got back to the hostel, found that the A team had found the conditions up top were so windy they had difficulty standing up, so they had not extended their walk.

The day was completed with another trip to the Strands Inn.

Report – Alan
